In a recent interview, United States presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy delved into various topics, including Bitcoin, and unveiled his crypto policy framework in the event of his election.
Ramaswamy emphasized that as cryptocurrencies gain popularity, it poses a threat to the status quo of the US Federal Reserve. He vowed to protect Bitcoin from government interference.
"My duty is to ensure that the government doesn't meddle in the affairs of innovators and pioneers in various fields, including the financial system," said Ramaswamy, as quoted by Bitcoin.com on Monday (20/11/2023).
Ramaswamy also stressed his commitment to advocate for the US dollar to remain the world's reserve currency. He outlined two ways to achieve this goal.
"Firstly, if you genuinely feel insecure about the proposition of your own value, you might try to outcompete rivals. Secondly, I believe the existence of Bitcoin restrains the dollar to ensure it cannot be manipulated in such a way that people opt out and switch to alternatives," stated Ramaswamy.
The US presidential candidate also commented on the regulations imposed by Joe Biden regarding cryptocurrencies. According to him, these regulations are threatened by the presence of Bitcoin.
They are reluctant to see people mine more Bitcoin because it would make Bitcoin more popular, subsequently posing a threat to the status quo of the US Federal Reserve.
